Introducing Queensland Sapphires

In our newest collection, colour becomes a language of place. Queensland sapphires form the chromatic foundation - stones whose shifting blues reflect sky, sea, and the quiet poetry of light. From pale, almost golden tones to deep teal depths, each sapphire carries both beauty and intention, shaped by nature and chosen with care.

A Spectrum Inspired by the North

The sapphires in the collection unfold in a nuanced palette of blues that echo Nordic daylight - the moment where sky and sea seem to merge. Light, airy hues move through green-tinged tones and into the deep, signature teal that Queensland is known for. These colours mirror the horizon and the constantly changing light our founder, Sarah Emilie Müllertz, encountered while visiting the mines this summer. What she found was not just colour, but atmosphere - a sense of space, openness, and quiet intensity translated into stone.

From the Anakie Gem Fields

Our sapphires are sourced from the Anakie Gem Fields in Queensland, a region renowned for producing some of the world’s most distinctive sapphires. Formed over millions of years within volcanic basalt and later settled in ancient alluvial deposits, these stones carry the imprint of deep geological time. Each sapphire is unique, shaped slowly by the earth before being revealed.

Mined with Care and Responsibility

Gemstones from the Anakie Gem Fields are recovered through carefully regulated, low-impact mining practices. Operations focus on land rehabilitation, responsible water management, and meaningful community engagement. Mining takes place primarily on private farmland leases, where open-pit sites are fully reclaimable. Once the sapphires are extracted, soil is returned, the land is reshaped, and native vegetation is replanted. In many cases, the restored land becomes more productive than before - a rare and thoughtful approach to extraction.

This careful process ensures that every sapphire carries more than colour alone. Each stone reflects respect for the landscape from which it emerged - a balance between natural beauty and human responsibility.
