A Guide to Rings: Choosing, Styling and Wearing Rings
Rings have been worn for centuries as symbols of connection, identity, and personal expression. Some mark significant moments, while others simply become part of the way we dress and move through everyday life.
From minimalist rings and refined stacking rings to sculptural statement pieces, there is no single way a ring should be worn. The right choice depends on proportion, material, craftsmanship, and, perhaps most importantly, how the piece feels on the hand.
At KINRADEN, rings are approached as small pieces of architecture. Created in Copenhagen and crafted from carefully considered materials, each design explores the relationship between form and the body, creating jewellery intended to be worn and kept beyond a single season.

Rings Made with Unexpected Materials
Precious metal is only one part of a ring's expression.
In the Bricks Collection, recycled 18 karat gold meets Queensland sapphires in colours ranging from blue and deep teal to green and golden tones. Square and baguette-cut stones create a rhythm inspired by Copenhagen's brick architecture, while the natural variation of the sapphires ensures that every composition carries its own character.
FSC-certified Mpingo blackwood offers another interpretation of preciousness. Naturally dense and deep black, the wood is cut with exceptional precision and brought together with precious metals in designs including the Kindred Collection. Rather than imitating a traditional gemstone, Mpingo is valued for its own natural character, origin, and material qualities.
These contrasts between metal, gemstone, and wood allow a ring to become more than an object of decoration. Material itself becomes part of the design.

Choosing a Ring as a Gift
A ring can mark a birthday, graduation, anniversary, Christmas, Valentine's Day, or simply a relationship between two people. Because rings are so closely connected to the wearer, choosing one as a gift can feel particularly personal.
Start by looking at the jewellery the recipient already wears. Do they favour gold or silver? Are their pieces understated or expressive? Do they wear several rings together or one at a time?
Size is naturally another consideration. If the ring is intended as a surprise, borrowing a ring already worn on the same finger can help determine the correct measurement.

Finding the Right Ring Size
A ring should feel secure on the finger without feeling restrictive. Ideally, it should pass over the knuckle with slight resistance and rest comfortably once in place.
Finger size can vary throughout the day and with changes in temperature, so measuring under normal conditions is helpful. Ring width should also be considered. A broad ring can feel tighter than a slender ring even when both have the same stated size.
If you already own a well-fitting ring for the intended finger, its measurements can provide a useful reference. Our Ring Size Guide offers further guidance on measuring your finger and finding the right size when purchasing a ring online.
For wider or more sculptural designs, it can also be helpful to consider the individual construction of the ring rather than relying on size alone.

Rings to Wear and Keep
Luxury rings are not defined by size or ornament alone. Their value can also lie in proportion, material, craftsmanship, and the attention given to how a piece meets the body.
At KINRADEN, this relationship is central to the design process. Architectural principles of rhythm, balance, structure, and negative space are translated into jewellery at an intimate scale.
Some rings are quiet. Others have a stronger presence. Some are worn alone, while others become part of a stack that changes over time.
What connects them is the idea that a ring should not belong only to a particular moment. Chosen with consideration and cared for over time, it can become part of everyday life, gathering meaning through the person who wears it.
