THE DESIGN PROCESS AT KINRADEN
At KINRADEN, the design process begins with Sarah Emilie Müllertz’s intuitive and sensuous approach to form. Trained as an architect, she draws inspiration from architecture, art, poetry, and nature, working with a strong sense of structure and aesthetic balance. These impressions are gathered into evocative mood boards, forming the conceptual and visual foundation of each collection.
From Vision to Mood Boards
Every new collection begins with a careful curation of references – sculptures, vintage photographs, architectural forms, and contemporary art. The mood board serves as a visual and atmospheric framework, guiding the creation of jewelry that embodies a coherent aesthetic and emotional universe.
Materials with Meaning
KINRADEN is rooted in an ethical approach, with deep attention to the origin and quality of its materials. Each piece is crafted in recycled 18k-gold and sterling silver, combined with the signature Mpingo blackwood – a dense, dark wood known for its exquisite luster and ability to develop a rich patina over time. The wood is sourced from off-cuts from woodwind instrument production, originating in a WWF-protected, FSC-certified forest in Tanzania.
Simplicity & Sculpture
The design language seeks to create timeless, sculptural pieces defined by strength and simplicity. KINRADEN’s jewelry embraces a balanced sense of calm, allowing each material to speak for itself – where every curve, edge, and surface reflects a harmonious interplay between form, proportion, and texture.
At KINRADEN, design is more than process - it is a philosophy of presence. From mood boards to materials, from first sketch to final polish, each piece is shaped with integrity and intention. The result is jewellery that not only embodies sculptural beauty, but also carries the quiet imprint of care - a mark meant to endure through time.
